Obituary For John Patrick Moran
We are very sorry to announce the passing of John Patrick “Jack” Moran
Born in Chrysler Ontario, Jack passed away peacefully on Friday, February 13, 2026, at the age of 90, surrounded by his family in Halifax, NS
Beloved and devoted husband of Sarah “Sadie” Buckley for 67 wonderful years, Jack’s life was a true testament to love, loyalty, and family. Together they built a life filled with laughter, devotion, and countless cherished memories.
Besides his wife Sadie, Jack is also survived by his daughter Debbie (Dwayne), sons, Mark (Cathy), Stephen (Laura), and David. He was a very proud and loving father. He also loved his 8 Grandchildren and his 12 Great Grandchildren.
Known as “Jackie” to his siblings, Jack was the oldest of 11 and leaves behind his siblings, Edward, Marcia, Bernard, Marilyn, Madolyn, Joanne, Walter and Karen who will cherish his memory. He was predeceased by his Ma, Jean and his Pa, Bernard along with his twin brothers Donald and Ronald.
Jack spent his entire working career with the Royal Bank, serving in many Provinces over the years and achieving important leadership positions before his early retirement at the age of 56. He was respected for his strong work ethic, professionalism, and the friendships he formed throughout his time with the bank. Jack was also a very active volunteer in the communities he lived and played in, often taking on leadership roles with groups such as the Kinsman Club, the Rotary Club and the Knights of Columbus, amongst many others.
When Jack retired from Royal Bank, he moved to Landsdowne, Ontario and then onto Gananoque, Ontario. He spent the last 10 years in Halifax. When Jack retired he and Sadie also began spending their winters in Florida. This allowed him to maximize his opportunities for golf. Always a love/hate relationship with the little white ball, he played until he was 80 and then started watching it instead. He loved all sports.
Jack will be remembered for the good times shared around the table, his quick wit, wonderful sense of humour and his genuine love of life. He brought warmth and a gregarious laugh to every gathering and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
