Obituaries

The family sadly announce the passing of Nancy Mae Rafuse (nee O’Connell) age 77, who passed away peacefully at the Halifax Infirmary on April 3, 2026.

Nancy grew up in Windsor Junction and was a long time resident of Dartmouth, N.S., but most recently a resident of Moody Hall, Halifax, N.S. Nancy was predeceased by her parents, Margaret and Cyril O’Connell and brother Wayne in childhood. She is survived by her son Rene Rafuse, whom she adored, her sister Brenda Kelly, niece Shawna McFarlane (Mike), nephews Adam Kelly (Erin), Aaron Stratton, Uncle Ervin Rafter and several cousins.

Nancy enjoyed reading, puzzles, card games, listening to country music and was a huge Elvis fan. In better times, she loved road trips and of course shopping. She will be remembered as easy to laugh and a lover of all animals.

Interment, at a later date, will be in Brookside Cemetery, Bedford alongside her parents, with a private graveside service. Thank you to the staff of Moody Hall (Shannex) for the compassionate and attentive care given to Nancy, during her time there. Donations to the SPCA in her name would be appreciated.
