Obituary For Raymond Dean Munroe
Raymond Dean "Ray" Munroe, 66 of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, passed away peacefully on October 5th, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Ray lived a full and colorful life defined by his love for his family, his life long friendships, dedication to hard work and an easygoing nature that drew people to him wherever he went.
Ray was the beloved and cherished husband of Kathlyn Munroe, and his life was anchored by love, loyalty, and a deep connection. He is survived by his brother Vaughn (Cheryl) Munroe and his sisters Debbie Munroe, Lynne Pilon, Sandy Munroe, and sadly missed by his twin sister Karen Munroe. Stepdaughter Samantha (Rob Moore) Parker, Stepson Sean (Lyndsay) Parker, five beautiful step grand children and one step Great Grand child.
Ray also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who adored him dearly.
Ray was predeceased by his parents Donald J Munroe and Anna E Munroe and by his brothers Harold and Graham Munroe.
Ray had many professions throughout his life. He worked on a farm, detailed cars, managed a gas station, plowed sidewalks, owned a roofing company, owned a gourmet sauce company, was security in many bars, bar tended, managed many bars and loved working in sales in a large offshore equipment company.
Ray found joy in music, cooking, and the open road. His love for long drives on his motorcycle or later in his car, listening to his favorite artist's music reflected his adventurous and free spirit. Rays gift of cooking, bbqing, and smoking meats was a dedicated passion and his desire to bring together his friends and family around a table to share his "food from the heart". He had a rare gift for making others smile and laugh, leaving a lasting impact on all who crossed his path.
Among his other favorite past times was racing cars, camping seasonally, watching Boston Bruins Hockey games and loving his pets. Ray looked forward to caring for his dogs, cuddling, training and spoiling them with all his heart. He would tell stories with tears in eyes of the dogs that are waiting on the Rainbow Bridge for him.
Rays friends were his family, and he kept in touch with many of his childhood friends. For they meant the world to him. With his sentimental, funny, easy-going, loving mentality, he won many hearts, leaving a wonderful impression on everyone he met.
There are no words that can express how grateful and blessed Ray felt towards every medical profession and facility that cared for him while fighting his battle.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, November 1st, 2025, 3pm at Parkside Pub & Smokehouse, 14 Highfield Park Drive in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.
