Obituary For Sarah Moran (Buckley)

Sarah (Sadie) Moran (Buckley)

The family of Sarah (Sadie) Moran are very sad to announce her peaceful passing on April 3rd, 2026.

Sadie was born in September 1937 in Burnbank, Scotland. She moved to Coventry as a teenager, then bravely immigrated on her own to Canada in 1956. After settling in Montreal, she began working at the Royal Bank of Canada, where she met her soulmate and husband of 67 years, Jack Moran.

Throughout their lives, Sadie and Jack were a true team. Whether it was raising their four children, moving across provinces for work, settling into new communities together, or sharing a passion for dancing and golfing, they approached everything as partners. Their bond was evident in all they did together. When Jack died in February, her family expected Sadie would soon follow. The family takes solace knowing that they are together again.

Upon their retirement in 1991, Sadie and Jack moved to Landsdowne and then Gananaque Ontario. They split their time between Ontario and Florida. They moved to Halifax in 2016 to be near their daughter Debbie, son-in-law Dwayne, and family. Sadie loved being around her family and her extended family. Sadie was known for always keeping a few dollars in her purse and when the great grandkids came to visit, she would slip them a few dollars to buy themselves a treat.

Sadie loved to sing and dance and if music was playing you could be sure to see her on the dance floor. She loved music and could remember the words to many of the classic oldies. In later years she was an avid golfer. While Sadie played sparingly before she retired, once she retired, she would be out on the course at least three times a week. Besides golf, Sadie loved to watch tennis and curling. Sadie could name the top players in these sports, knew all the stats and players rankings. Everyone always assumed she watched sports because of Jack but it really was another shared passion

Sadie leaves behind to grieve her, her four loving children, Debbie (Dwayne) Halifax; Mark (Cathy) Wetaskiwin; Stephen (Laura) Calgary; David Calgary. She also leaves behind 8 grandchildren and 12 great - grandchildren. She will also be missed by her many brothers and sisters in law, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Jack, her parents, William and Mary (Divers) Buckley, her brothers Joseph and Charles and her sister Johanna.

A service for both Sadie and Jack will take place this summer in Gananaque, where they will be laid to rest together.

My deepest sympathy to Debbie, Mark, Stephen, David and families. May the wonderful memories of all your happy times with your parents bring you comfort and ease your grief. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this sad time. I have fond memories of socializing with Jack and Sadie at Royal Bank and church functions when they lived in Regina. They were both friendly and a joy to visit with.

My sincere condolences to the entire family. I worked with Jack as his assistant while he was the regional Manager in Regina, Saskatchewan and have many fond memories of our great times both at work and socializing, be it on the golf courses or out for evening meals and of course the (occasional) cocktail, well maybe not the occasional part. Both Jack and Sadie loved tife to the fullest and both my wife, Lucy and I always enjoyed our times together. Jack was my boss and he was one of the best and Sadie was one of the warmest, enjoyable person I have ever met. God bless them both and the same to you all. Fondest memories from an other retired Royal Banker and friend. Brian Cobb( Lucy deceased) January 5th, 2021.
