Obituary For Daniel Joseph Benson

Benson, Daniel Joseph Age 62 of Dartmouth, NS passed away on July 15, 2020 in his home surrounded by his children, brother, sisters, and good friend, Gerald Currie.

Born in Halifax, NS, he was the son of the late Clarence John Benson and Alice Grace Benson (née Baker).

He was a die-hard leafs fan that never saw them win the cup. He always made sure his grandchildren had ample presents at Christmas. Even until the very last moments of his life, he made plans to ensure each of his grandchildren would have a present waiting for them under the tree this Christmas. He loved driving his red Jetta all over the province. His favourite spot to go? Breakfast at Steak and Stein. He worked all his life and retired in 2018 from whistling at the Dartmouth General.

He is survived by his two children Daniel Joseph Benson Jr. and Amy Lynn Benson; his three grandchildren who he loved the most, Jada Marie Benson-Young, Legend J Stacey, and Charlie Joseph Charbel Benson; his brothers and sisters Kenny Zinck, Donnie Benson (Sharon), Jimmy Benson (Cheryl), Richard Benson (Irene), Johnny Benson (Coreen), Debra Paquin (Raymond), Paul Benson (Paula), Kathy Veinot (Greville), and Judy Benson (Bruce); and his many nieces and nephews.

A private gathering has been scheduled for family members to celebrate Daniel’s life at his chosen final resting place. May his spirit live on through his children and his memory cherished through stories shared by friends and family.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you Danny and Amy and your entire family! We know that Charlie loves his granddad very much!! Charlie is always happy to share that grandad got him his shiny red car. Our hearts are very sad for you and for our grandson who will be left with such a void of not having grandad in his life.
