Donald Hugh Clubbe passed away peacefully in the Dartmouth General Hospital on April 23, 2026, at the age of 86.

Don was born in Toronto, Ontario, to the Spencer family, and later adopted by the Clubbe family. He was raised on a farm in Parry Sound, Ontario, where he developed the strong work ethic and practical skills that would define his life.

From a young age, Don had a passion for Harley-Davidson motorcycles, beginning his working life as a teenager in a motorcycle shop. As a young man, he joined the Navy, where he learned the machinist trade and earned the rank of Master Corporal. His proudest deployment was aboard the HMCS Bonaventure, Canada’s last aircraft carrier.

After leaving the Navy, he spent many years working as a machinist in the Halifax and Dartmouth area, finishing his career at Mattatal’s Signs in Dartmouth.
Don built a life grounded in resilience, independence, and quiet strength and will be remembered as a practical man with a sharp wit and a great sense of humour.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Beverley Elsie (Hilchey) Clubbe, his son, Peter David Clubbe; his stepson, Darren Clyde Reid; and his second wife, Betty Louise (Burke) Clubbe.

He is lovingly remembered and will be missed by his son, Steven David Clubbe, and his stepchildren James Reid, Heather Reid, Tracy Reid, and Cheryl (Reid) Vincent, along with all those who knew him and appreciated his steady presence and humour.

Cremation has taken place. In keeping with Don’s wishes, there will be no service.
