Obituary For Frances "Frankie" Cecelia Peveril

With sad hearts we announce the passing of Frances "Frankie" Cecelia Peveril, 88, of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, at Dartmouth General hospital on August 16th, 2026.

Born in January 1938 to Allan MacDonald and Margaret MacDonald (nee Cochrane), Frances grew up in Hammonds Plains Nova Scotia with her parents and older brother, Allan "Bud" MacDonald. She married Kenneth Peveril in Halifax on April 11th,1959, and together they raised 3 sons: Kevin, Keith and Jeffrey. After her children reached high school-age, Frances worked for several years at the Dartmouth General Hospital in administration.

Frankie will be remembered for having the kind of home where friends and family always felt welcome to pop in and have a visit whenever the mood struck. She and husband Ken were active members of their close friend group, hosting card games and weekend get-togethers. Her walls packed with family photos, she was hugely proud of her kids and grandkids and was their biggest cheerleader always. She was a beloved member of her Dartmouth street, the first to lend a helping hand whenever friends needed her. And she was the best Nanny, setting out towels and toys for a swim in Bell Lake, having home-baked cookies at the ready and massive family dinners prepared for all occasions. Always the first one up, she prepared a customized breakfast for each and every person in the kitchen. Her home was the beating heart of her big, busy family.

Left to cherish her memory are husband Kenneth Peveril; son Kevin (Susan Lawson) and children Connor, Evan and Haley, son Keith (Lynn McCarron), and children Jesse (Polina), Daniel, Jonah, David and Seth; son Jeffrey (Jennifer), and children Eyre (Cole Porter), Samantha and Grace; great grandkids Caleb, Carter, Evelyn, Isabelle and Wendy; sister-in-law Janice MacDonald and nephews Paul, Michael and Robert; brothers-in-law Richard Peveril (Stephanie) and Brian Peveril (Heather), sister-in-law Elaine Peveril; nieces and nephews Glen, Trevor, Bruce, Mark, Adam, Sheri and Clare, and many dear family members and friends. Frances was predeceased by her parents Allan and Margaret and her brother Allan "Bud" MacDonald.

A celebration of Frances' life will be held in the St Thomas More Church basement, 15 Caledonia Road, Dartmouth, on Saturday September 12th from 12 noon to 3 pm.
