Obituary For Lucy Marcella (Walker) Hadley
April 8th, 1951 – August 31st, 2024
Lucy Marcella Hadley, the heart and soul of her family, has danced her way into the arms of her angels, surrounded by those she cherished most. Our beloved Lucy, who brightened our lives with her unwavering love and generosity, is now reunited with her high school sweetheart and husband of 35 years, Scott.
“Together, they hold an eternal full house of hearts, with their love completing the family hand in the heavens.”
Lucy’s departure is met with bittersweet sorrow as she is embraced by the spirits of her cherished family —her loving parents, J. Albert and Maizie Walker; her in-laws, John Hadley and Mable Parks, who loved her as their own; her dear sister, Danna Mae Walker; her sister-in-law and friend, Joanne Ross; her sweet nephew Christopher Fillis.
A true queen of hearts, Lucy was not only a devoted mother and grandmother but also a beacon of kindness and warmth in her community. She touched the lives of many with her open door, festive holiday decorations, lively karaoke parties, and her ever-ready helping hand. Her home was a sanctuary, filled with laughter and love, and her legacy of caring extends to every friend and stranger she encountered.
Lucy leaves behind a heartbroken family, including her protective and loving sons and their families — John Michael and Stephen Sakalauskas, David and Steeve Hamel, her thoughtful and loving daughter Sally and Grant Trenholm, as well as her precious grandchildren: grandsons and best boys, Scott and Liam Trenholm, her beautiful granddaughters and best girls Emma Jean Hadley, and Caitlyn Trenholm. She also leaves behind her caring nephew, Jason Walker (Natalie), sweet niece Sarah Walker, and her dearest friend and confidante Lorraine Underwood.
She is survived by her siblings: Donald, Ronald (Debbie), Lorraine Harrietha (Barry), Jennie Anne Bignell (Kevin), and Christine Walker, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
In the grand symphony of life, Lucy found a new melody with Mike Drew, her devoted partner of 17 years. Together, they shared joyous moments from Super Bowl parties and dancing to New Year's celebrations in Las Vegas. Lucy’s spirit was a dancing flame, brightening the lives of everyone around her, from Arizona to cruises around the world.
Her kindness and dedication were evident in the way she made everyone feel like family, often extending her love with a warm embrace or a heartfelt conversation. Lucy’s legacy lives on in the many lives she touched, a testament to the love and devotion she poured into each moment.
Lucy’s influence extended beyond her immediate circle as a funeral director; a dedicated member of the A.N.A.F.; and a steadfast supporter of the Beechville Church Community as she continued the legacy of her parents, touching countless lives with her compassion, generosity, and unwavering commitment to her community.
Though her presence will be deeply missed, Lucy’s spirit will forever dance in our hearts, her song continuing to inspire and uplift those who were fortunate enough to know her.
A celebration of her life will take place at the J. Albert Walker Golden Age Social Center, 212 Herring Cove Road on Tuesday, September 3rd, 2024 between 6-8. This venue, rich with cherished memories, is a fitting tribute to honor her legacy.
Funeral Service will be held at Calvin Presbyterian Church, 3311 Ashburn Ave, Wednesday September 4th ,2024 at 11 am.
Donations may be made to the J. Albert Walker Golden Age Social Centre.
