Things will be different….It is with sadness our family announces the passing of Robert Leo Nicholas, 62, born in Halifax.

He was the son of Lillian (MacDonald) and Wilfred (Bub) Nicholas. Robert is predeceased by his parents and an older sister, Deborah, Newfoundland. Robert passed away peacefully at the Victoria General (VG) Hospital, on July 30, 2026, with his loving son Colin (and Colin’s partner Leisa and soon-to-be grandson) and “Sismom” (Lee) at his side. He is survived by his only son, Colin; siblings: Roy (Lillian) Milford; David (Juanita) Dartmouth; Michael (Deborah) St. Margaret’s Bay; Terry, Victoria, BC; Lee, Halifax; Gerald (Tracey) Halifax, Lynn Michele, Halifax and Richard/Seven (Chris), Newport and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Robert was brought up in Halifax North End, moved to Bedford and later in life to Lower Sackville. Robert worked for 36 years with the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades, Atlantic Canada, Local 39. He worked on oil riggs with his best friend, Brent Pye who was always his partner- in-crime; his work took him to Ontario, across Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and to England and Bermuda. Robert was a sharing individual, a great worker and a wonderful Dad. He enjoyed entertaining, and whatever he had he shared willingly with anyone. Robert especially enjoyed the many lobster meals he prepared for many family and friends. He was a jokester with great humor.

Thank you to the doctors and nurses at Cobequid Medical Centre and at the ICU in the VG who worked tirelessly with Robert over his last days.

A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
