Obituary For Marjorie Ann Benoit

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Marjorie Ann Benoit, wife, mother and grandmother on September 10, 2021. She died peacefully at the Strait Richmond Hospital surrounded by family.

Marjorie was born on June 27, 1935 to the late Edward and Evangeline Landry. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Clement J. Benoit, her four daughters, Joyce Benoit of Sydney, NS, Lisa Benoit-Bowen (Darin) of Bedford, NS, Dawn Benoit-Samson (Lloyd) of Middle Sackville, NS and Angie Williams (Lyndon) of Stillwater Lake, NS along with her three precious grandchildren Kaleb, Renee and Madeline. She is also survived by her loving sisters Nola Meunier, Sylvia Power and sister-in-law Lorraine Landry. Marjorie is pre-deceased by her parents, two brothers Conrad and Delphis Landry, four sisters Evelyn LeJeune, Mildred LeJeune, Gloria Babin and Margaret Boudreau as well as sister-in-law Anne Corcoran.

She will always be remembered by her family for her spitfire personality, her love of a good game of cards (where her favorite saying was “pay up and shut up”), her infamous luck with scratch ticket winnings and on occasion, her choice words for the bingo caller who wouldn’t call her number when she was set. But above all else, we will remember her fierce love and devotion for her family that meant everything to her.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nurses from the Palliative Care units who took such great care of her the last few months, primarily at St. Martha’s Regional and most recently at the Strait Richmond. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate any donations in her memory to one of the following: Strait Richmond Hospital Foundation or St Anne’s Centre, Arichat.

Cremation has taken place and a service will be held at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Petit De Grat, NS on Friday September 24, 2021 at 11:00am.

Dear Joyce, my deepest sympathy on the passing of your mom. Marjorie was a caring, independent person who loved to be challenged, especially when it came to a card game. She was also a very spunky lady and her spunk didn't lessen as she grew older. Take comfort knowing that she is no longer suffering and is now organizing a card/bingo game in heaven. May she rest in peace. My deepest condolences also to Clem, Lisa, Dawn, Angie and families. Brenda & Troy
