Obituary For Ada "Pearl" Walker

Walker, Ada “Pearl" - 88, passed away peacefully November 23,2023 in “The Bissett” from complications of Dementia. Born in Rencontre West, Newfoundland, the oldest daughter of the late William and Minnie Symes. Pearl was a homemaker for many years and then worked at the Cole Harbour High Bell Annex Cafeteria where she truly enjoyed the staff and students. Soon after she became one of Colonel John Stuart Elementary’s crossing guards until her retirement. She tied many a shoe, zippered lots of coats and gave her handmade mittens and treats to her little friends. She also loved her family trips to the Green Valley Campground in Vermont and most of all shopping excursions to Frenchys.

She was predeceased by her husband Donald Arthur Walker, her parents William and Minnie Symes and sister Mamie.

Pearl lived for her family, her two daughters Kim MacDonald (Larry), Cole Harbour, Kelly Keating (Danny Mallard), Moncton, her three grandchildren, Brea Koziel (Tony), Katie Smith and Mitchell MacDonald (Vekisha). She thought the world of her five great grandchildren, Abigail and Keegan Koziel, Walker and Morgan Smith, and Emma MacDonald.

She also is survived by two brothers, Albert (Alma) Symes and Wayne (Jane) Symes.

Celebration of life service will take place at Anglican Church of Saint Andrews, 2 Circassion Drive, Cole Harbour, Saturday December 2, 2023 at 2:00, officiated by Archdeacon Katherine Bourbonniere. Reception to follow in church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia.

    Extending my deepest condolences to Kim, Kelly & family during this sad time. Your mom & my mom, Eileen, were first cousins. We travelled from our home in NL in 1964 or 65; & stayed with your family. I was only 6 years old, but I remember your dad & mom being so sweet & kind to us. Hugs.. Brenda Chaulk-Furlong

    Kelly no matter what the circumstances it is very hard to lose our mother- sending you a big hug and a smile from Arizona to help you through the next few days. She is smiling and laughing like her old self now and she knows what a wonderful daughter you have been. Your friend Betty
