Obituary For Eleanor Margaret MacDougall

Eleanor Margaret MacDougall peacefully passed away on September 4, 2026 at the age of 70 after a very courageous battle with cancer. Eleanor was predeceased by her parents, Ray and Edna (Farquhar) MacDougall and her brother Kenny.

Eleanor is survived by her husband and best friend, Allan (Al) Wight, Stepsons, Jeff (Michele), Arron (Michelle), step-grand children, Ashlyn, Katie and Abby, sister-in- law, Anne MacDougall, niece and nephew, Janine (Rod) and Keith (Jenny).

Born in Sydney, a graduate of Sydney Academy, Eleanor was proud of her Cape Breton heritage and lookout when she met another Caper as the conversations quickly got around to finding out who they might know in common.

Eleanor spent her working career in the Financial Services industry with BMO, CIBC and The Mortgage Group. She was an Award Winner on many occasions with long time friendships formed along the way.

Eleanor had a passion for golf and always looked forward to her Tuesday games with the girls at Oakfield Golf Club, where she was a member for 15 years.

She and Al loved to travel and did some 30 cruises, rented in the Caribbean Islands and overseas. With the last 4 years wintering in Florida, a life well lived.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will take place on September 12, 2026 at 2 pm (St. John’s United Church, 3360 Highway 2, Fall River) with a reception to follow. A private interment will take place at a future date in Cape Breton.

A Big Thank You to all who have supported Eleanor on her journey.

Donations to the Pancreatic Cancer division of the Canadian Cancer Society in memory of Eleanor is appreciated.
