Anthony "David" Monbourquette

We are disheartened to announce the passing of Anthony "David" Monbourquette, age 83, on August 21, 2026, at Maplestone Enhanced Care in Halifax.

Born in Cape Breton in March 1943, David grew up in Three Island Cove before embarking on a life filled with service, dedication, and deep love. From 1962 to 1969, he proudly served his country as a Corporal in the Canadian Air Force. Following his military service, David built a long and successful career in retail management, serving as a well-known and respected long-time manager at Kent Building Supplies in Halifax.

David spent many wonderful years living in Toronto alongside his beloved partner, Donald Bezanson. Together, they shared a beautiful life and an enduring partnership that spanned over 50 years. After many years in Toronto, the pair returned home to Halifax to enjoy their later years together until Donnie’s passing on February 11, 2019.

David and Donnie had a deep appreciation for the simple beauty in life. They loved nature and found great peace and joy spending their time walking through the Halifax Public Gardens.

He is survived by his loving sisters, Gloria Frosst and Sandra Morrison (Bill); Sister in-law's, Carolyn Beals, Marilyn Baltzer and Linda Taylor (Bob); His brother in-law's Bob Bezanson (Bonnie), David Bezanson and Stephen Bezanson (Kim); his cherished nieces and nephews, as well as a warm circle of extended family members and close friends.

David was predeceased by his parents, Dennis and Annie May Monbourquette; his partner, Donald Bezanson; his sisters, Marion Laplante, Leona Gilbert, and Denise Monbourquette; and by his beloved cats, who brought him much joy over the years.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Donald K. Walker Funeral Directors.

In keeping with David's quiet nature, there will be no formal service. Instead, you are warmly welcomed to celebrate his life by sharing a favorite memory or photo, and/or make a donation in his honor to the SPCA.
