Dr. Donald Robert (Bob) Campbell

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Dr. Donald Robert (Bob) Campbell on April 29, 2025.

Bob was born in Bridgewater NS in January 1931. He attended St. FX University for pre-med and continued on to Dalhousie University where he graduated in 1955 with his Medical Degree. He and Joan then moved to Shelburne NS where he established a Family Practice for twelve years. While there, he served on the Town Council for five years and as Mayor for two years. The family then moved to Halifax where he studied and received his Fellowship from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada as a Radiologist. He served as Assistant Head of Radiology at the Victoria General Hospital until he retired. He also served as President of the Directors of Resident Training for Canada. Bob loved salmon fishing and spent many hours on the rivers with his sons and friends in the Atlantic Provinces and the Gaspe.

He was the third son of Dr. Duncan A. Campbell and Rachel Hagen. He was predeceased by brothers Dr. Duncan Campbell and Dr. John H. Campbell and his wife Joan Bourque and infant son Brian.

He is survived by sons Robert W (Bob) Campbell (Debra), Ian Campbell (Barbara), their children Sarah and Drew, Colin (Susan), their children Jesse (Moira), Beth (Arad) and Mark (Leelee). He had four great-grandchildren, Jack and Joan Campbell and Breann and Janelle Gharagozli who all loved to run down the hill and say hi to Papa.

Bob will be greatly missed by all his family and Elizabeth (Betty) Allen and her family. Our family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Haniyeh for her home care and then the staff at Melville Lodge for their special care of Bob. A service will be held at a later date at Saint Thomas Church in Shelburne NS.
