I knew Doris through the Friends of McNabs Island Society. She loved McNabs Island! Her last visit would have been during the Tall Ships a few years ago. She had many memories to share about her island adventures and wrote stories for our Friends of McNabs Island Rucksack newsletter which you can read in two instalments here: https://mcnabsisland.ca/sites/default/files/Rucksack_FINAL_Dec2017_Print_0.pdf https://mcnabsisland.ca/sites/default/files/McNabsRucksackMarch2018.pdf We will really miss her on the island!

I worked with Employment and Immigration Canada (now Services Canada) for many years and I remember when Doris worked in Staff Training. She used to bring in beautiful flowers from her garden and when I admired them she would bring me some. Once my husband and I gave her a lift to a staff BBQ and she showed me her garden. I also know that we both loved cats. I was sad to hear of her passing and am glad that she had a good long life and enjoyed her trips. My condolences to her relatives.

Eugene and Doris were my second cousins and frequented my grandparents home in North Wallace. I did not have the pleasure of meeting much of my Dad's family but remember Eugene well. So sorry to hear the news. Doris has many living family members, though most of us distant realitives. Please pass my condolences and contact info on to any living realitives that may have come forward since Doris's passing. I am Vernon Patriquins grand daughter and would love to connect with relatives.
