Obituary For Grant Maxwell Walls
It is with broken hearts and great sadness that we announce the passing of Grant Maxwell Walls of Bedford, NS at the age of 77, on Oct 20, 2020. Son of the late Maxwell and Ada (Wright) he is survived by his loving wife Joan (Rutherford), children Chloe (Ian), Maxwell (Rachael), brother Ian (Dianne), niece Erin (Dave), and sister in law Carol. Cremation has taken place and details of a celebration of Grants life will be shared at a later date.
Grant was born in Calgary and grew up in Edmonton, Alberta. A westerner at heart he was passionate about his cars, drag racing and fun times with many close friends at football games, Alberta Beach dances and the occasional beer! He started his first career with EH Price that saw him move to Ottawa, London, and then Toronto where he met his wife Joan. Grant during this time had a cast and crew of friends across Canada that saw him experience Grey Cups ,Grand Prix, Blue Jays games, skiing, sailing on Lake Huron and the Caribbean, along with travels around the world with Joan.
After an international posting to Singapore, Grant switched careers to work with Bingo Press & Specialty and saw a permanent move to Nova Scotia where his family settled in Bedford. Grant was the ultimate Dad participating in all aspects of his childrens’ upbringing regarding school, sports, music and other extracurricular activities. He was very proud of their accomplishments and lives in Toronto.
Grant was a fixture in our neighbourhood. He loved being outside washing his car, maintaining an amazing yard and being the neighbourhood handyman. Walks with his “mutt” Jude the beagle kept him in great shape! He prided himself on controlling traffic to keep all children in our “hood” safe from speeding cars.
We are overwhelmed at the amazing support and tributes to Grant from his friends in Nova Scotia and across Canada. We wish to express our thanks for the care Grant received by ENT, Oncology, 8.4 and ICU of the QE11 Health Science Centre and a special thank you to Shelly McDonald of the Palliative Care Unit at the Victoria General. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Grant’s name to the QE11 Health Foundation. Cheers to you Grant !
