Obituary For John D. Feetham

Feetham, John D. 90 of Horne Settlement, Enfield passed away on the evening of November 4, 2023 at the QE11 Hospital, Halifax.

With sadness we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband/father John. John was born in Halifax in April, 1933. The third eldest son of Luke and Evangeline ( Bellefontaine ) Feetham. He is survived by sister Anna Feetham, loving wife of 67 years Carole (Hefler ),sons Robin (Nancy), Farrell, Marc, 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Predeceased by brothers Bob, Noel, Patrick, and sisters,Vera Lord, June O'Brien and Eva Emerson."
His love of life and family will be the memories we hold closest to our hearts.

John was a man who had lived life to the fullest. His smile and infectious personality will be remembered by many, whether through business dealings in home construction, moulding manufacturing or introductions through golf and in later years at Casino Nova Scotia.

It wouldn’t be right if we didn’t make mention of his love of golf 🙂 When he eventually gave up his passion of bow hunting we were all concerned that given his “ MILD “ energy level he would become bored and wondered what direction he would take next for leisure entertainment. In earlier years we all remember the comments he made with respect to how could a person waste such valuable time beating a compressed elastic ball around a bunch of grass trying to avoid water and sand. Considering his internally competitive nature it was no wonder that within short order something had triggered a nerve that sent him astray for many years there after. His love of the game was second to non, which not only fulfilled his competitive desire but opened the door to so many new friendships which he cherished immensely. We do admit that those days of 54 holes were a bit overboard. Of coarse we would never dare make comment :-).
No matter what event whether family or social you could always rely on John for conversation and entertainment. He loved and succeeded to bring smiles to the many. His years on the hill in his beautiful black house is where we will never forget his love of nature while surrounded by the numerous pets throughout the years that brought comfort and peace to his heart. We will hold dearly the memories of a good man. God bless you John.

As per request there will be no service or celebration of life. Cremation has taken place and internment will be at the Catholic Church in Enfield for immediate family only.

In memory of, donation can be made to SPCA

Dear Carole and family. I was so sorry to hear of John's passing and my heartfelt sympathy goes out to all of you who are suffering this loss. Mom and Dad (Mike and Mary Jordan) held your friendship dear to their hearts and always spoke with fondness of their time spent with John and Carole. On many occasions we could hear the four of you laughing in the living room as a result of dad or John telling one of their sick jokes. I will never forget the positive energy that John brought into our family home whenever he visited. Take care and sending hugs. Tracy

Both John and Carole were great friends of my late parents, Mary and Mike Jordan. I remember John as having a sweet tooth and the delight he took in my mother's baking skills. After many a midnight mass at St. Bernard's Catholic church John and Carole would drop by for snacks at our house where John was sure to sample at least one of the many sweets layed out for the celebration. He liked to wash it down at times with a glass of wine mixed with pop. We will miss you John. Rest in peace.

On behalf of my parents, Don and Betty McDow of Grand Lake and Paul Johnson and myself, I would like to extend our sincere condolences to you all. Johnny was a great guy....and very much a fixture in my life growing up! Seems that he was either popping in to see my Grandfather, Frank Currie... Visting my Dad.and talking "wood" or trucks! I have memories of Granddad and he and Carole all being at the Airport together and heading to Florida. I suspect he to play golf... Granddad to visit his son and to play golf... Later in life, I would buy molding from him for my first home... and always have a chat at Shooters when I would run into him. He and Paul would talk home construction and foundations... and local construction gossip. When my Dad got sick and wasn't able to get out to the garage as often, Johnny would stop in for a tea.... Always a story and a smile... Take Care. He was one of the good ones for sure!

My condolences to all of you ....he was certainly a man who was so outgoing and whenever you met anywhere would have that beautiful smile and remember my name. I was just a teenager when I met John through my dad, Don Grandy. He got to know my husband Don over the years...50 years ago, he made us a handrail for our new home...I never forgot his generosity. Over the years, running into him at the golf course, Shooters or around the community, I was always greeted with that smile and a chat....he will surely be missed Sincerely, Donna Bonner

It is with great sadness to hear of John's passing. John and I talked nearly every week and did a lot of business over the years. One of my fondest memories was back in 1977. John had dried some pine and made some mouldings for me. When it came time to pay him, he said, "Rob, this is on me. It is your first home." We stayed friends for all these years. I will thoroughly miss him. My condolences to the family. Robert Taylor, Chaswood, N.S.

To my favourite Uncle: "A special person REMEMBERED and A beautiful life HONOURED" To this day, I still have a great love for your white and turquoise '56 or was it a '57 Bel-Air Chevy. What a great car. You had good taste. And I loved all the laughter we shared together at family functions. You were the best. Rest in Peace in the arms of our God. Love, Gail Prince George, BC.
