Obituary For Marie Louise Woolley nee Rafuse

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Marie Louise Woolley nee Rafuse, 98, Lower Sackville (previously of New Glasgow) on January 3, 2024 at the Victoria General Hospital in Halifax.

Marie was born in Martin’s Point, Lunenburg County, and was the daughter of the late Herbert and Jennie Rafuse. She is survived by her children: Donnie (Dorothy) Woolley of New Glasgow, Joan (Richard) Thomas (Lower Sackville), Heather (Lower Sackville), and Paul (Donna) Woolley of Whites Lake; grandchildren Stephen Woolley and Aaron (Lisa) Woolley as well as great-grandchildren Owen and Jared Woolley.

She was predeceased by her husband Charles, sisters Hilda and Ella, as well as brothers Granville, Murray, Herman, Lloyd, and Lawrence.

Marie was an avid knitter and enjoyed giving away her hand-knit dishcloths to anyone who enjoyed them, especially to local church volunteers. She also loved knitting hats and mittens to give away to those in need, especially children. She also took joy in her garden and caring for her beautiful property while she was able, which was well into her eighties. She found special comfort and made many friends once joining the Trenton Church of the Nazarene.

Cremation has taken place and there will be no service. A private burial will take place at a later date.

The family would like to thank the EHS paramedics as well as the staff at the Cobequid Health Centre, QEII Health Sciences Centre, and the Victoria General Hospital. Special thanks are also extended to Bayshore Home Health for their kind and gentle care.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Trenton Church of the Nazarene where Marie was a devout member.

She will be greatly missed and forever loved

Marie was a friend of ours here in Trenton. My husband and I would pick her up for church and would be amazed at her independence. Marie loved to bring a sweet loaf to church every Sunday to share at coffee time. She prayed for everyone in the church and beyond. I know I will see her again someday. Marie you were the epitome of what I envision a soul to be who knows and loves Jesus. ❤️
