Obituary For Ronald Charles Baker

Ronald Charles Baker- Age 80 of Halifax NS passed away Tuesday May 5th, 2026

Ron was born in Halifax to Reginald and Rita Baker, he grew up in Kline Heights with his siblings Shirley, Nancy, Barbara, Elizabeth (Liz), Bonnie and Reggie.

On July 8th 1967 Ron married Alicia Rose Abbott, together they raised a family and they also shared a love for cats. Once they became empty nesters they enjoyed a number of years participating in local cat shows, showing their beloved cats and volunteering with the Nova Scotia Cat Fanciers, fundraising and helping out at the shows.

Ron spent 48 years working as a Taxi driver in the Armdale and Spryfield area, he had a strong work ethic working right up to the day he was hospitalized with his short illness. He cared for his regular clients and took great pride in his vehicle. He will be forever known by his fellow drivers, friends and family as “781 Ronnie”.

Ron is survived by his wife of 58 years Alicia, his daughter Judith McNeil(Tony), his son Corey, and his three grandchildren Connor, Brody and Audrey with whom he was extremely proud of. He was predeceased by his infant daughter Kelly Lynn, his father Reginald, his mother Rita, his sister Nancy and his niece’s Bridgett and Jodi. Ron will be a greatly missed husband, father, poppy, brother, uncle and neighbour.

Special thanks to Dad’s sisters and to Lynn Grant a neighbour of 30 years for being such an amazing support to Mom and helping her get through this difficult time. At Ron’s request there will be no visitation or funeral service.

    Alicia and family my thoughts and prayers are with you all at this difficult time. Ron will be missed by so many. Ron was my driver twice a day 5 days a week and also on my days off. We talked about a lot over the years. Alicia Ron always spoke very highly of you and your family. He was very proud of you all. 781 forever!!RIP my friend. xo

    Judith, Connor and family, I am deeply saddened by Ronnie's death. He was a kind and funny man and I will miss our Thursday morning drive. He will truly be missed by alot of people. Take care and cherish your memories. Donna Stokes
