It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Wayne Joseph MacDonald, son of the late Bert & Betty MacDonald, who passed away peacefully at the QEII Health Sciences Centre at the age of 83.

Born in Montreal, Quebec, Wayne lived a life of extraordinary adventure, courage, and an unwavering enthusiasm for anything that moved fast.

Eager to see the world, Wayne joined the Royal Canadian Navy and embarked on a remarkable career as an experimental diver. From the warm waters of Puerto Rico to the frigid Arctic seas, he descended into dark and challenging waters with a determination and fearlessness that became the hallmark of his character. Wayne embraced life at full speed, whether on the road in a sports car, doing helicopters on the hill during his Ski Patrol days, or on the water: either as Captain or flying behind, with or without water skis. Retirement did little to slow him down. Instead, he found a new adventure working in the film industry. Wayne had a lifelong love of movies. His years working on set gave him an insider's perspective he treasured deeply, and an endless supply of behind-the-scenes stories he never tired of telling.

When he wasn't on the water, the slopes, or a film set, Wayne could often be found in his garage restoring antique trucks and classic cars. Friends knew they were always welcome to stop by, where good conversation, laughter, and a cold beer were never in short supply.

Wayne was the dear husband of Debbie and proud father of Beth and Amber. He is survived by his brothers, Johnny, Gary, and Steven, as well as many cherished cousins and extended family members in Ontario, British Colombia and Alberta.

Wayne lived boldly, meeting every challenge with strength, determination, and a sense of adventure.

As he enters these final deep waters, we take comfort in knowing he does so with the same courage and fearlessness that guided him throughout his life. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
